Made by Peruvian artisans women: Beautiful hand-knit dolls for babies

Peru is a country with a very strong textile history. The Paracas civilization excelled in fiber mat-making. The Incas were superb artisans. Presently most of the women in the Andean highlands and the Amazon learn knitting skills from their parents as their parents did from theirs.

Peru has a rich textile history, dating back to its past civilizations. Hand weaving has been passed down as a familial knowledge through generations, and to this day, it is still practiced in various parts of the country, from the Andean region to the Amazon. Hand weaving has become a means for mainly women to financially support themselves and to preserve their cultural identity in their textile designs.

However, in recent years, artisanal weaving has been overshadowed by mass-produced woven products made using textile technology. This has affected the livelihoods of many Peruvian artisans.

At our company, we work with hundreds of Peruvian artisan women in their places of origin to ensure the survival of traditional high-quality handicrafts. We provide fair trade jobs that uplift the lives of Peruvian artisan women living in poor areas of the country, creating well-being, empowerment, and preserving their skills.

Peruvian artisan women create hand-knit dolls, baby knitwear, and accessories using eco-friendly natural fibers like alpaca, cotton, organic cotton, and cotton blends. Our products are sustainably made.

We can help you bring high-quality handcrafted textile products made by Peruvian artisan women to clients around the world. If you are interested, please write to us at sales@nikointernational.com.
